Rabeprazole Sodium (Gastro-Resistant / Enteric-Coated)

• Class: Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI).

• Mechanism: It works by irreversibly inhibiting the $H^+/K^+$ ATPase enzyme system (the gastric proton pump) in the parietal cells of the stomach lining. This effectively shuts down excess acid production at its source.

• Role of Gastro-Resistant Coating: Because Rabeprazole is highly acid-labile (destroyed by stomach acid), the enteric coating allows the drug to pass through the stomach completely intact. It dissolves only upon reaching the alkaline environment of the small intestine, ensuring optimal systemic absorption.

Domperidone (Sustained Release)
